A couple of news items during the past several days caught my eye and again convinced me that when it comes to the immigration issue, leaders of the Republican Party are unable to find their rear ends even while using both hands.
Let's start with Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, who said Aug. 16 that Mitt Romney's use of the word self-deportation during last fall's...In a July 29 interview with Breitbart News, NumbersUSA founder and President Roy Beck addressed Rep. Paul Ryan's affinity for open borders.
He (Ryan) is not part of the "patriotic libertarianism" wing that recognizes the importance of borders, Beck said. "I don't mean to say he hates America, or anything like that," Beck said. "He just doesn't believe borders are that important." ...You know him as Paul Ryan, "Mr. Anti-Deficit" and GOP presidential wannabe, who represents Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District. But when it comes to the immigration issue, he's also the Marco Rubio of the U.S. House of Representatives.
He's working diligently behind the scenes on behalf of Obamamnesty, in thick with the corporate elites who spend their working lives gorging...As a young reporter in Chicago during the 1960s, I watched as that city's media that included four major newspapers fell all over themselves defending blacks who were demanding nothing more than the rights they were born with.
